Fire Safety Plans

A Fire Safety Plan is a site-specific, comprehensive, and detailed document about your building that helps both occupants and first responders in navigating an emergency fire situation. A Fire Safety Plan focuses on three main objectives: Fire Prevention, Occupant Safety, and Fire Control / Extinguishment.

In general, a fire safety plan is required for any building:

  • with a fire alarm system (as required by the BC Building Code)
  • used for care, treatment, or detention
  • where flammable or combustible liquids are handled or stored
  • where hazardous processes or operations take place
  • where construction or demolition is taking place
